Christian Burkhardt came to St Louis from Germany as a ten-year-old boy in 1850 and settled in Gumbo…the area of Long Road and Chesterfield Airport Road. Gumbo is now Chesterfield MO and Chesterfield Airport Road was once the Plank Road and is now Olive Street Road.
